Ingredients

• All-purpose flour - 4 cups
• Granulated sugar - ½ cup
• Active dry yeast - 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet)
• Milk - 1 cup
• Unsalted butter - ¼ cup
• Eggs - 2 large
• Salt - 1 teaspoon
• Vegetable oil - for frying
• Powdered sugar - for dusting

Instructions

   Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

   In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

   Add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms.

   Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

   Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.

   Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.

   Place the donuts on a floured baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

   Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).

   Fry the donuts in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.

    Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

    Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
