Ingredients

• Whole milk - 1 cup
• Heavy cream - 2 cups
• Sugar - ¾ cup
• Instant coffee granules - 2 tablespoons
• Unsweetened cocoa powder - ¼ cup
• Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
• Egg yolks - 4
• Salt - ¼ teaspoon

Instructions

   In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, coffee granules, cocoa powder, and salt over medium heat.

   Stir until the mixture is warm and the sugar and coffee granules are dissolved.

   In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until pale and thick.

   Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly.

   Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

   Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.

   Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

   Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

   Transfer the ice cream to a container and freeze until firm.
