Ingredients

• All-purpose flour - 2 ½ cups

• Baking powder - 2 ½ teaspoons
• Salt - ½ teaspoon
• Unsalted butter - ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks), softened

• Whole milk - 1 cup

Instructions

   Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

   In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

   Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

   Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

   Stir in the vanilla extract.

   Gradually add the milk, mixing until the batter is smooth and well combined.

   Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

   Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
